"NOW THAT I HAVE GESTATIONAL DIABETES, WHAT THE HECK AM I GOING TO EAT?!"

Hi, I'm Cristina! I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant. I've been in your shoes and I can tell you—having GD is not your fault.

Skip the scouring Pinterest for keto recipes that might work for GD. I've taken ten years of professional recipe development experience, along with first-hand input from resident OB Rachael Sullivan, DO and resident nutritionist Jamie Askey, RN, to create one comprehensive resource. Think of the Recipe Membership as your gestational diabetes clubhouse.

Figuring out what to make for dinner is a daily struggle, even when you aren’t pregnant, even when you don’t have gestational diabetes.

Pregnancy often comes with various food cravings and aversions. But when you have GD, those cravings and aversions need to be squeezed into the narrow category of a “GD-safe diet”. “What should I have for lunch?” suddenly becomes a loaded question. Pile on questions like: “What if I desperately want something sweet?” or “What if EVERYTHING seems to be spiking me?"

CAN YOU RELATE TO ANY OF THESE QUESTIONS?

When I googled, “What can I eat on a gestational diabetes diet?” I found plenty of medical sites telling me to stop drinking juice, stop eating doughnuts, and start eating more fruit and whole grains. The problem? I wasn’t drinking juice, I could have guessed that doughnuts were out, and banana and oatmeal spiked my blood sugar like crazy!

While there are free, gestational diabetes recipes online, I found that MANY rely on ingredients that were OUT OF THE QUESTION for me: vegetables like squash or sweet potatoes, lentils, beans, oats, rice, quinoa, and whole grains. Also, none of the free recipes I found included the nutritional information I needed to make informed choices: fiber, protein, carbohydrates, fat, and sugar.

I created the Recipe Membership to be the clubhouse, support system, and informational resource I WISH I’d had. I want your experience to be way more delicious than mine was!
My GD Kitchen - Gestational Diabetes Basics 101

HI, I'M CRISTINA! I was a professional recipe developer for more than a decade. (My work appeared in the publications below, among others.) I'm also a mom who had gestational diabetes. Now, I guide women through their GD journeys (and beyond) with recipes, videos, fact sheets, researched-for-you resources, and more.

If you’re like me, the first thing you did post-diagnosis was google, “I have gestational diabetes....what do I do now?!”

When I searched, I found a handful of free recipe roundups, but digging deeper, I realized they included ingredients that spiked my blood sugar! I found NO resources written from the perspective of someone who’d actually experienced GD themselves, or by someone with culinary / recipe-writing experience.

I set about creating a resource that combines science with the personal tone of someone who’s walked in your shoes. This project started as a desperate need to create foods I wanted to eat when I had GD; now, I want to share all my hard work with you.

"GD KITCHEN DESERVES FIVE STARS!"

"I highly recommend GD kitchen! Cristina really helped me dealing with my GD during my 2nd pregnancy. She has the power to turn a bumpy road into a brand new highway, with easy and delicious recipes that do not require tons of utensils, templates for food and blood glucose (so helpful for your obgyn visits), tips and tricks all along your journey. Additionally the thing I really enjoyed with GD kitchen is that Cristina was able to quickly and fully understand the issues I was facing as she personally went through GD. Last but not least, Cristina is FUN. GD kitchen deserves 5 stars!"
