Welcome! I'm so glad you're here.

Recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes?
I left the doctor's office feeling worried about everything I didn't know. Navigating GD myself led me to create this guide, containing all the information I wish someone had told me on day one.

LET ME GUESS...
Now that you've failed your second glucose tolerance test, your doctor has prescribed you a glucose meter—which you don't know how to use—and instructed you to find a dietician—who you need to wait days, or even weeks—to see?

PREGNANCY IS HARD ENOUGH WITHOUT A RESTRICTIVE DIET, AND FEARS YOU COULD BE HURTING YOUR BABY.
Gestational diabetes was something that occupied me from the time I woke up—fasting number!—to the time I went to bed—bedtime snack! It made me feel alone, and overwhelmed. My whole day revolved around the overlap between what I could safely eat, and what my pregnant self could bear to eat.

RECIPE DEVELOPER, RESEARCH NERD, MOM TO HENRI
I had gestational diabetes while pregnant with my son. It was not enjoyable! Overnight, my waking hours became consumed with learning what to do, what not to do, and how to eat. My choices felt doubly loaded, because they affected not just me, but my baby as well.
I wanted someone to tell me EXACTLY what was both safe and delicious to eat. When I couldn't find those resources, I created them myself!
I studied English Literature + Creative Writing in college, and then earned an MFA in Fiction Writing. In between, I completed the Basic Cuisine course at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris.
The Roaming Kitchen followed: an (award-winning) food blog where I wrote and tested a new recipe each week. (It’s dormant now, but the archives are full!) My recipes appeared in People Magazine, Cup of Jo, Buzzfeed, InStyle, and Harper’s Bazaar, among other publications. I also wrote thirty-five original recipes for Food52’s book Ice Cream and Friends.
